Read More: Lito Sheppard (DB – OAK), Nnamdi Asomugha (CB – PHI), New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos Oakland Raiders fans may see the familiar number 21 roaming the secondary at the Oakland Coliseum whent he Raiders host the Denver Broncos this weekend. Except, this time, the man wearing number 21 will not be Nnamdi Asomugha, but rather, corner back Lito Sheppard. Sheppard was signed to the Raiders roster during the pre-season, however, the Raiders cut him before the season started, opting instead to go with a rather young and shallow depth at the corner position.

The Kansas City Chiefs shutout the hapless Oakland Raiders by a score of 28-0 Oct. 23 in Oakland. Two interceptions by the Chiefs defense led directly to touchdowns as the Raiders couldn’t find their offense without injured quarterback Jason Campbell(notes).

The Irish Times – Tuesday, October 11, 2011 AMERICAN FOOTBALL: THE OAKLAND Raiders earned an emotional victory that would have delighted late owner Al Davis as they beat the Houston Texans 25-20 on Sunday, while the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots also enjoyed wins on the fifth week of the National Football League season. The outspoken Davis died aged 82 on Saturday but the Raiders, wearing “AL” stickers on their helmets, carried out his motto “Just win, baby” as Michael Huff grabbed an interception off Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the end zone on the final play. Raiders coach Hue Jackson buried his face in his hands on the sideline, while players embraced each other as the game ended.

A meeting with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots showed the Oakland Raiders how far they still need to go to be mentioned among the AFC’s elite teams. A week after bullying the New York Jets in an emotional victory in the home opener, the Raiders were dealt a dose of reality in a 31-19 loss to the Patriots that exposed plenty of issues that still need to be addressed if Oakland wants to end a run of eight straight non-winning seasons
