| Toucher & Rich: Bert Breer On Patriots Defense Against Raiders | |
A fan of the Oakland Raiders cheers during the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field on December 12, 2010 in Jacksonville, Florida. (Photo by Sam Greenwood/Getty Images) The Patriots are 2-1 after a loss in Buffalo last Sunday. This week they head to Oakland to take on the 2-1 Raiders. The Raiders are riding high after a win over the Jets. Bert Breer of the NFL Network spoke with Toucher & Rich about Michael Vick complaining about officials, the Patriots defense, Albert Haynesworth and the Oakland Raiders. Michael Vick was injured his hand in a loss to the Giants last week and complained about the officials saying he doesn’t get calls on all the late hits he takes. The guys discuss the QB complaints with Breer. The guys then moved on to discuss this week’s Patriots game in Oakland against the Raiders. This Patriots defense has had a lot of trouble keeping their opponents from putting up yards. Will we see the Pats change some things up against this Raiders team? They also went on to talk about Devin McCourty, who has seemed to struggle at times this season. Are the Patriots asking him to do more this season and could this be the cause of his performance problem? All this plus so much more with Bert Breer. Toucher & Rich: Bert Breer On Patriots Defense Against Raiders What do you guys think about this. | Fantasy Football Sit/Start Projections, Week 4: Darren McFadden Looks To Continue His Domination
Read More: fantasy football, raiders sit start, fantasy football sit start, Sebastian Janikowski (K – OAK), Michael Bush (RB – OAK), Darren McFadden (RB – OAK), Jacoby Ford (WR – OAK), Denarius Moore (WR – OAK), Oakland Raiders The Oakland Raiders continue their short homestand with a potential statement game against the New England Patriots. The Raiders knocked off the New York Jets behind a dynamic offense powered by Darren McFadden. They’ll look to do the same this week, but they also benefit from the expected return of wide receiver Jacoby Ford to the lineup. Wide receiver Denarius Moore has gotten off to a solid start in his rookie campaign, but adding Ford into the lineup could open Moore up for even more. START Darren McFadden Analysis: Run DMC had a slight scare last weekend as he left with a bit of a groin injury but he’s been a full participant in practice. As long as McFadden is healthy he is proving to be one of the best in the business this season. He’s a must-start. Sebastian Janikowski Analysis: Just plug and play with Seabass. The Raiders could end up in a shootout with the Patriots, which only benefits Janikowski. Denarius Moore Analysis: He’s not at a must-start level yet, but Moore is becoming a better and better play each week. His numbers weren’t quite as big in week three as they were in week two, but the Raiders are showing a willingness to mix him into reverses to get him the ball as frequently as possible. He’s potentially emerging as a decent flex option. SIT Jacoby Ford Michael Bush Analysis: Michael Bush remains no more than a handcuff for Darren McFadden at this point. Even a big game or two will not change that as long as McFadden stays healthy. Our weekly Raiders sit/start suggestions are based on a combination of our knowledge as fans and the weekly projections of numberFire.com. | New England Patriots vs. Oakland Raiders: What they’re saying in Oakland
The Oakland Raiders come into this week’s match-up with the New England Patriots at 2-1 and riding the momentum of a smash-mouth win over another AFC East team: the New York Jets. The Raiders’ 34-24 win over the Jets was the direct result of new coach, Hue Jackson’s emphasis on blocking and the run game. Oakland currently leads the league in rushing yards (555) and rushing touchdowns (8). Running back Darren McFadden was awarded the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance, racking up 171 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. The Raiders have improved their blocking to avoid “the red dot”, a motivational technique Jackson has been using during film sessions.
The Patriots currently own the league’s 10th best run defense, allowing just 91.7 yards per game and three touchdowns. The Raiders have been paying special attention to New England wide receiver , Wes Welker. Welker currently ranks first in the league in catches (31) and receiving yards (458). The Raiders will likely play seventh-year cornerback Stanford Routt on Welker. The former Houston Cougar says that getting to Welker right off the line will be important. “You definitely got to get your hands on them and play up close to the line of scrimmage against guys like that,” says Routt of this week’s challenge. “But, no matter what, anytime they’re feeding somebody extensively the way they do him, it’s always going to be a tough task to handle.” In three games this season, Routt has only given up four completions on 14 passes thrown his way, good for a 28.6 percentage “burn rate,” the best in the league. Burn Rate is a stat that measures how often a cornerback gets beat, and Routt gets beat less than any cornerback in the league. Richard Seymour has been downplaying this week’s matchup , saying that that chapter of his life is over and he is focused on helping the Raiders win their third game of this young season. Seymour leads the Raiders with 2.5 sacks this year and also has 10 total tackles. On the injury front, the Raiders look a little snake-bitten. McFadden, currently nursing shoulder and groin injuries, practiced fully on Wednesday and is expected to play Sunday. Quarterback Jason Campbell (foot), cornerback Chimdi Chekwa (hamstring), and receiver Jacoby Ford (hamstring) were all limited on Thursday. It looks as though receiver safety Michael Huff (concussion), Louis Murphy (groin), and fullback Marcel Reece (ankle) will miss this week’s game as neither of them participated in practice today. Rookie tight end Richard Gordon was taking snaps at full back. Thanks for reading! . | Oakland Raiders game Sunday vs. New England Patriots is a sellout, will be televised locally
The Raiders announced that their game Sunday at O.co Coliseum against the New England Patriots has been sold out, meaning the game will be televised locally. Coming on the heels of a sold-out home opener, with the Raiders beating the New York Jets 34-24, the back-to-back sellouts are the first in Oakland since the sixth and seventh games of the 2008 season. On Nov. 30, 2008, the Raiders lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 20-13 before 61,379, and then fell to New England 49-26 on Dec. 14 before 62,179. The two sellouts equal the number of sellouts in each of the two previous seasons, with the Raiders being televised locally last Nov. 9 against Kansas City and in the 2008 season opener against San Diego. Since returning to Oakland in 1995, the Raiders have been blacked out 83 times in the regular season and had 47 games televised. That’s all the news for today. |
